Films in development
Tidal Barrier
A feature film in development
Three stories about relationships, exploring the possibilities of who we might have been and who we might become.
The first part, Claire, is now in pre-production.
In February the development phase was completed. This consisted of shooting the complete story on location, on video, with the cast. The shooting is tentatively scheduled for April.

Reconciliation
Short film completed in January 2008
Thomas Nerling’s short film, Reconciliation, pivots around one day in which an estranged couple are ready to part, but find reconciliation in the mundane acts of the everyday, eating, cleaning, and reading the paper. Even though they are odds with each other, and are too proud to speak about how difficult it is, or even speak at all, they do not acknowledge the world beyond the parameters of their apartment. Yet this world is always present, in the light coming in the window, and the sounds of he street, and finally at the end, somehow reconciled, they are able to see themselves, in the cityscape, as part of something larger.
Reconciliation adopts an aesthetic of extreme economy. There only 24 shots over 13 minutes, broken by 1 second blackouts, but with no two angles the same. Control of pace, acting, image and sound is critical.
Emma Ashford and Phil Hayden (on the left) in Reconciliation.
